In Rotello, an old 16th-century church has been given a fresh new purpose, transforming into a modern permanent theater and multipurpose hall.
From the outside, the Church of San Rocco remains unchanged, with its simple yet elegant façade featuring a single portal and a rose window. But step inside, and the real transformation comes to life. The interior has been completely redesigned with bright white walls, ceiling, and flooring, creating a luminous and modern atmosphere. In striking contrast, 100 black seats fill the central space, adding a sleek, contemporary touch. A preserved section of the original stone flooring keeps a connection to the building’s past.
Beyond aesthetics, the project is also focused on sustainability. Eco-friendly solutions have been implemented to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption. LED lighting ensures efficient illumination, while an underfloor heating system with radiant panels provides warmth while cutting down emissions.
Thanks to this thoughtful renovation, the Church of San Rocco is no longer just a historical landmark—it has become a vibrant cultural hub for events and performances in Rotello. A perfect example of how the past and future can beautifully coexist!
