Discovering the most important archaeological sites in the region

The itinerary is designed for lovers of history and archaeology, from the Samnites to the Romans and into the medieval period.

In the most secret heart of Italy, Molise holds archaeological treasures that speak with the ancient voice of the Samnites and Romans, amid silent mountains and villages suspended in time. This itinerary is a journey through telling stones, places where the past still breathes.

At Castel San Vincenzo, at the foot of the Mainarde Mountains, we discover the remains of the imposing Benedictine abbey, surrounded by unspoiled nature and the lake that reflects the sky. A mystical place where history and spirituality come together.
Isernia, one of the oldest cities in Europe, reveals its soul at the National Paleolithic Museum and in the archaeological area of the historic center, where Roman roads, temples and aqueducts resurface among the alleys.
Head up to Pietrabbondante, to admire one of the most fascinating Samnite theater-temples in ancient Italy: a place suspended between heaven and earth, where the stone still seems to vibrate with rituals and assemblies.
At Sepino, ancient Saepinum offers itself intact: walls, forum, baths and basilica create a site of rare beauty and suggestion, immersed in the quiet of a green valley.
Finally, Baranello and Casacalenda guard in their forests remains that delicately narrate the daily life of vanished civilizations, in a journey where each stage is discovery, emotion and a return to the origins.
