The S.E.B.A. Museum of Sartorial Art, located in the heart of Capracotta’s historic center on Via Risorgimento, stands out as a national excellence, being one of the few museums entirely dedicated to the art of artisanal tailoring. Opened in 2015 by the will of master tailor Sebastiano Di Rienzo—a native of the village and a prominent figure in Italian tailoring, and former president of the National Academy of Tailors—the museum aims to enhance the artisanal, cultural, and human roots of the Molise region.
Within an exhibition space of about 180 square meters, the museum hosts a rotating collection of over 700 garments, all crafted by Di Rienzo himself since the 1960s. Among the exhibited pieces are creations made for renowned designers such as Valentino and Capucci, alongside garments worn by figures from politics, culture, and entertainment. Each piece testifies to an evolution of style, technique, and taste, offering a privileged insight into the history of Italian haute couture.
The museum route is divided into several sections, with a highlight being the “Margherita Room,” designed for workshops and demonstrations, equipped with vintage tailoring tools such as irons and sewing machines. The museum’s name, S.E.B.A., is an acronym that holds the initials of the members of the Di Rienzo family, symbolizing the deep family connection to this noble art.
Beyond being an exhibition space, the museum is also a cultural and educational center, aimed at passing on tailoring knowledge to new generations, keeping alive a tradition that unites past and future.
