Reaching Molise by car
Thanks to its important motorway links, Molise is easy to reach by car.
Those travelling from Rome or Naples can take the A1 motorway, which has exits providing direct access to Molise. From the Adriatic coast, you can enter the region via the A14 motorway at Vasto or via the A16 motorway at Benevento.
Travelling by car gives you the flexibility to explore Molise at your own pace, taking in scenic routes through mountains, hills, historic villages and stretches of unspoilt coastline. This is ideal for those who want to discover the area at their own pace.
Reaching Molise by plane
Although Molise does not have an airport, the region is easily accessible thanks to its proximity to several airports:
- Pescara – Abruzzo Airport (about 1 hour from Termoli)
- Naples Capodichino Airport (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Campobasso and Isernia);
- Foggia’s Gino Lisa Airport is approximately an hour and a half from Termoli.
- Rome’s Fiumicino and Ciampino airports are about 2–3 hours away by car or train.
From these airports, you can continue to your destination by car, bus or train. Some private operators also offer reservation-based shuttle services.
Reaching Molise by train
Molise is connected to the national railway network via Campobasso, Isernia and Termoli stations
There are direct trains from Rome to the region, while from Naples, Bari and Milan, connections involving changes are available, depending on the route.
Taking the train is a good option for those wishing to travel to Molise sustainably and enjoy the landscape along the way.
Reaching Molise by bus
Molise has good long-distance bus and regional rail connections. Several companies offer direct services from
Rome, Naples and Pescara.
Services are frequent and comfortable, with daily departures. To travel within the region, there is a local public transport network operated by regional providers.
