| In the heart of Molise’s summer, amid traditions and historical re-enactments, Fornelli’s “Days in the Village” stands out, an event that on Aug. 13 and 14 transforms the ancient village into a lively medieval setting.
Created in the late 1990s, this event takes Fornelli back in time, enlivening its streets with artisan workshops, street performers and local food specialties. The program is full of evocative moments, including the historical parade, medieval games and the presence of the Palio knights. The first day opens with an impressive historical procession, in which figures in period dress parade through the streets of the village, creating an atmosphere of yesteryear. Stores offer a wide range of typical products and handicrafts, while performances entertain visitors. The evening concludes with a spectacular re-enactment of the assault on the village walls. The second day sees the entry of the Palio riders, who, divided by contrade, compete in tests of skill and precision. Throughout the day, the village continues to be enlivened by performances and food stores, where traditional flavors can be enjoyed. The event culminates at the stroke of midnight with the evocative burning of the castle, a fireworks display that lights up the night and captivates tourists and residents alike. The “Days in the Village” offer an immersive experience in the past, enhancing the charm and beauty of Fornelli, already one of the most charming villages in Molise. |
