Taking part in the Su e Giù in Campobasso is not just about putting on a bib, starting, and finishing. It’s about feeling part of something that goes beyond each individual step.
Together with thousands of other people—many of whom we may not even know—we find ourselves sharing the same road, the same breath, the same desire to be there.
For many, myself included, it wasn’t a competitive challenge.
It was a personal one: overcoming laziness, pushing past small limits, breaking free from the solitude of days that all feel the same.
Every step became a symbolic gesture: a yes to an active life, to health, to the city, to others.
In an age where we communicate too much through screens and live too still, an event like this brings us back to real movement. It reminds us how natural and beautiful it is to meet, to greet each other with a smile, to move forward side by side—even if only for a few kilometers.
The real victory was participation itself: that powerful feeling of unity, of being strangers just a minute before and companions on the journey for the next 7 kilometers.
Su e Giù thus becomes a message: running or walking together can fill empty spaces, spark new motivation, and help us rediscover the pleasure of being part of a living community.
And when you cross that finish line—whatever your pace—you realize that you haven’t simply reached the end of the route…
you’ve come closer to one another, and a little farther away from your fears.
