The exhibition now includes interactive and multimedia instruments, thanks to a recent innovation project that allows visitors to listen to the different bagpipes, explore digital information sheets, and discover the stories behind each piece.
Skilled Scapoli artisans continue to craft two types of bagpipes: the keyed bagpipe and the “zoppa” (cioppa, in local dialect), made from precious woods such as olive and cherry. Each instrument is a small masterpiece of ingenuity and passion, reflecting centuries of pastoral culture.
But Scapoli is not only about music. The village also preserves an important chapter of Italian history. At the Museum of the Italian Liberation Corps, located in the historic center, documents and photographs recount Scapoli’s role as the headquarters of the Allied Command after the armistice of September 8, 1943. It was here that the famous Monte Marrone operation was planned—a symbol of the rebirth of the Italian army in the struggle for liberation.
