Caseificio San Marco was founded in 1995 in Ferrazzano, in the district of San Marco—right on the border with Campobasso—from which it takes its name. After years of growth, the business moved in 2014 to a larger, modern facility, still located in Ferrazzano, to meet increased production needs. The dairy’s main mission has always been to promote and celebrate Molise, a region rich in green hills and ancient villages, often unknown or referenced humorously with the phrase “Molise does not exist.”
Production focuses on dairy products and cheeses made exclusively from local milk, without preservatives, using artisanal methods and a strong commitment to quality. Every morning, fresh stretched-curd cheeses such as mozzarella, bocconcini, and nodini are produced and immediately available for sale. The facility includes a glass wall separating the shop from the production area, allowing visitors to observe the cheesemaking process in full transparency.
The village of Ferrazzano, located just a few kilometers from Campobasso, offers stunning views, fresh air, and a peaceful atmosphere. It is also known as the ancestral home of actor Robert De Niro, whose great-grandparents emigrated from the village to the United States. In addition to its own dairy products, San Marco Dairy offers a curated selection of Molise-made specialties from local artisanal producers, including biscuits, olive oil, wine, cured meats, jams, and more. The goal is to provide genuine, high-quality products that reflect the rich traditions and flavors of Molise.
