“Rocka in Musica” is a music festival held annually in Roccamandolfi, a picturesque village located at the foot of the Matese massif in the province of Isernia. Born at the end of the 1990s thanks to the initiative of the local group “Strimpelli ed Urla,” the festival has achieved over the years considerable relevance in the Italian independent music scene.
Since its first editions, “Rocka in Musica” has stood out for its intimate and engaging atmosphere, creating a special bond between artists and audience. Initially set up with modest means, such as platforms borrowed from the parish and essential lighting, the festival has been able to grow while keeping its authenticity intact.
One of the peculiarities of the festival is the deliberate choice not to depend on public funding, thus allowing the organizers to operate with total autonomy and creative freedom. This independence has fostered the creation of an event that goes beyond mere musical performance, becoming a true moment of social and cultural aggregation.
Throughout its editions, “Rocka in Musica” has hosted more than 200 bands from all over Italy and abroad, giving them a platform to express their artistic sensibilities. Artists who have performed include names such as Frankie Chavez, a well-known Portuguese singer-songwriter, who presented his album “Double or Nothing” in the 2017 edition.
In addition to music, the festival offers a variety of side activities that enrich participants’ experience. These include food stands offering local specialties, markets of Molise crafts, and real-time street art performances. These initiatives contribute to a unique atmosphere where local culture blends with contemporary artistic expressions.
Another significant aspect of the festival is its focus on the local community. Proceeds from past editions have often been reinvested in projects for the redevelopment of public spaces and social initiatives, such as the creation of the “House of the Guest” and the contribution to the “Walk in the Village of Brigands” project.
The festival’s motto, “No one is a stranger here,” perfectly reflects the inclusive and welcoming spirit of the event. Every year, “Rocka in Musica” transforms Roccamandolfi into a music village, where enthusiasts and curious people gather to share moments of pure musical passion, in a context that celebrates freedom of expression and cultural sharing.
