In the heart of the Molise hinterland, shrouded in lush forest and unspoiled nature, lies one of the most fascinating corners of the region: the Carpinone waterfalls. This natural spectacle, once known only to a few enthusiasts, is becoming one of Molise’s most popular destinations, thanks to the work of a group of volunteers who have improved its accessibility without affecting the surrounding environment.
The path to reach the falls winds through paths surrounded by greenery, enriched by handmade wooden signage in perfect harmony with the landscape. From the first steps along the path, the sound of rushing water anticipates the wonder that awaits visitors: a roar that guides the senses to a place that seems straight out of a fairy tale.
The main waterfall, known as the Cascata del Carpino, is a drop of about ten meters that throws its waters into a small bend, creating striking plays of light and reflections. The scenic trail allows you to observe the waterfall both from above, among the vegetation, and from the base, where two parallel jets of water flow between boulders of rock. A section of the trail runs right in front of the waterfall, offering different photographic perspectives and moments of pure contemplation.
A short distance away is another wonder: the Schioppo Waterfall. Smaller than the previous one, it is fed by the Tura stream and slides over a wall covered with moss and stones until it flows into the river. Here the path follows the bank of the watercourse, among dense and fragrant vegetation. During the summer season, it is possible to cool off in the crystal-clear waters of the river, taking advantage of the direct contact with nature.
The Carpinone waterfalls are not only a place to visit, but an experience to live: perfect for hiking, nature photography lovers or simply for those seeking peace and beauty in an unspoiled setting. This corner of Molise, so authentic and little traveled by mass tourism, represents a true hidden treasure, ideal for regenerating oneself away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Moreover, thanks to the presence of specialized guides, it is possible to practice numerous sports activities in contact with nature. Among the most engaging is aquatrekking, a sport suitable for everyone, where the watchword is only one: fun.
