MAACK: Open-Air Contemporary Art in Casacalenda

Loading...

The MAACK – Open-Air Museum of Contemporary Art Kalenarte was founded in 1992 by architect Massimo Palumbo to promote contemporary art in Casacalenda. This unique open-air museum features 21 permanent installations, spread across streets, squares, and woods, turning forgotten spaces into creative landmarks.

In 2011, under the supervision of Professor Lorenzo Canova, internationally renowned artists Stefania Fabrizi and Susanne Kessler created installations exploring the themes of time and historical memory. Their works blend with the village’s history, offering visitors a deep connection between past and present.

The MAACK is complemented by the Franco Libertucci Civic Gallery, housing a collection of over 100 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and installations. Divided into three rooms, the gallery honors the MAACK artists, the famous sculptor Franco Libertucci, and those who donated their works to enrich the local art scene.

Visiting Casacalenda means stepping into a living museum, where art and nature merge to create an unforgettable experience in the heart of Molise.
