MuFeG – Jelsi Wheat Museum: Tradition and Art

Loading...

The Community Museum of the Feast of Wheat, known as MuFeG, is located in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie and celebrates the deep bond of the Jelsi community with the Feast of Wheat, held every July 26th in honor of Saint Anne for over 200 years.

The museum pays tribute to the tradition of wheat floats, a practice that has turned an ancient act of devotion into true works of art.

At MuFeG, visitors can explore the history of the festival and the wheat processing stages through documents, paintings, photographs, videos, and models of past floats. The museum not only preserves and enhances this tradition but keeps it alive year-round, allowing visitors to experience the magic of the festival beyond the summer period.

MuFeG is also a center for research and education, offering activities for schools, groups, and individual visitors. Through educational programs and workshops, the museum helps spread awareness of peasant culture and the bond with the land, keeping alive a tradition that represents Jelsi’s identity.

If you want to experience the most authentic soul of Molise, the MuFeG is an unmissable stop!
