The Tibetan Bridge in Roccamandolfi: adrenaline and tranquillity amongst Mainarde mountains

Have you ever walked as if suspended in mid-air, with only the echo of a stream to keep you company and the sound of the wind whistling through the mountains? If you’re looking for real thrills, the Tibetan Bridge in Roccamandolfi is your ticket to a world of untamed nature and breathtaking views.

We are in the heart of the Molise Mainarde, a still largely unexplored corner of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. Here, amongst dense woods and imposing peaks, a 234-metre-long bridge, suspended over 140 metres above the ground, connects two rock faces above the canyon carved out by the Callora stream. It is a feat of modern engineering that seems to dance amongst the clouds, and crossing it is an experience you won’t easily forget.

But don’t worry – you won’t need mountaineering boots or via ferrata ropes: the route is accessible and safe, suitable even for those who aren’t experienced hikers. You can reach it via a pleasant walk from the village centre, passing by the fascinating ruins of the medieval castle of Roccamandolfi. With every step, you draw a little closer to this marvel, until you find yourself at the very spot where nature and humankind have joined hands.

The Tibetan Bridge is not just a scenic walkway: it’s a way to view Molise from a new, higher, freer perspective. And to realise, perhaps, that even the most intense emotions can arise from a small mountain path.
