Just a short walk from Bojano, in the green heart of Molise, Colle d’Anchise is one of those places that quietly surprises visitors. Here, amid gentle hills and the slow flow of the Biferno—the region’s most important river—lies an enchanted corner where nature and history intertwine along the banks of a river park waiting to be explored.
It was on the waters of this river that, at the end of the eighteenth century, a mill was built, now fully restored: a stone building nestled in the Upper Biferno River Park, part of the evocative complex known as La Piana dei Mulini. Time seems to have stood still here, and every architectural detail tells the story of a simple life connected to the rhythms of water and land.
The mill, transformed into a small “albergo diffuso” (a distributed hotel), now welcomes travelers with seven rooms combining rustic charm and refined taste, restored using original materials and the craftsmanship of local artisans. Some rooms are located directly within the structure of the old mill, offering an authentic and immersive experience, just steps from trails that lead into the heart of the park.
Walking here means crossing wooden footbridges, breathing in the damp mossy air, and listening to the song of the river echoing through stone arches. It is an invitation to slow down, to connect directly with the environment and a rural tradition that remains alive in Molise. Whether choosing to stay overnight, explore, or simply pause, Colle d’Anchise and its river park offer a true refuge where nature and culture meet.
