Born almost as a bet in June 2005, Jazz In Campo is now one of the most significant musical events in Molise, capable of attracting fans from all over Italy and bringing names of international caliber to a small stage in Campodipietra. A festival that, edition after edition, has grown in quality and notoriety, becoming a true cultural symbol of the area.
The idea took shape thanks to the initiative of three local musicians – Giovannino Giangiacomo, Pino De Vivo and Sabina Farinaccio – with the support of the then mayor and the Pro Loco. The debut was simple but significant: a single evening in the form of a jam session, made with reduced means, few funds and a lot of passion. Despite the pouring rain, the musicians kept playing, proving from the start that the project had deep roots and a promising future.
The particularity of Jazz In Campo has always been its hybrid identity: since the second edition, called “Jazz In Campo… dipietra”, the festival has embraced the concept of the “Blend Project,” a contamination between jazz and traditional Molise music. This fusion laid the foundation for an original and inclusive musical proposal, capable of integrating languages and sounds from different worlds, reflecting the artistic and social evolution of contemporary jazz.
Over time, the festival has abandoned the need to explain its name: “Campo” has become a symbol, a place of meeting, openness and experimentation. An idea of jazz that goes beyond conventions, exploring global rhythms and melodies, always staying true to quality and artistic research.
In recent years, the initiative has been enriched with the collaboration of the neighboring municipality of San Giovanni in Galdo, giving birth to “Jazz InCampo – Jazz InGaldo”, a natural evolution that further expands the scope and breath of the project.
Today, Jazz In Campo is much more than a festival: it is a laboratory of ideas, an opportunity for cultural growth, a regular event for those who love music that is born from the encounter between roots and innovation.
Alongside the music, there is also the opportunity to enjoy typical dishes comfortably seated at tables arranged near the stage.
An all-round event to experience the warm summer evenings between music and culture.
